I had a public affairs show on KVMR FM community radio. All open discourse got those of us who were brave canceled. No more independent Radio here in the United states either.
Nice piece, Kim. I'm still trying to source the players from the CRTC and the contents of their ZOOM confab with "independent" radio producers, (without much success so far). Janine (below) is not exaggerating, this IS the biggest story in a generation and promises to reverberate for many more to come.

Maybe you'd consider doing a piece on "where on Earth have the leftists gone?" dealing with the opposition to the G20 meeting that was held in Toronto in 2010, where have the anti-globalisation activists disappeared to?
Praxis Theatre created an awesome participatory play (https://www.facebook.com/G20Romp/) to denounce the policing at that event, where the authorities claimed "You Should Have STAYED HOME", which is the name of the play. Ring any bells these two years STAY HOME mandates?
That moment rang the death knell of Canada's left, and one of the last times our beloved CBC gave a damn about truth and democracy.
I am truly choked at the CRTC, and the CFUV even more! University radio has a long and noble history of Airing the issues, opinions, and information not available through popular mainstream media.
Independent media has been the last bastion of uncensored information, and most University campus radio stations have strongly aligned themselves with thoughtful and interesting minds who question, pose new ideas, ways of thinking - this censorship is appallingly wrong!
There will be No Joe Rogan’s in Canada, per the authoritarian conservative CRTC dictates or the hollowed minds calling the shots at CFUV.
It’s not fear mongering to propose a credible theory as to why intelligent minds have become conditioned, notably by the truly fear mongering campaign of governments and health authorities. Why is that fear mongering considered acceptable? Seriously, what tf?
Perhaps being confronted with the possibility that your government could have a hand in the current dystopia by way of a highly effective propaganda campaign (that just might have gone too far) is too frightening to contemplate?
The crew at CFUV has lost all credibility for investigative inquiry or to stand as a beacon of free and open debate. Some topics are truly uncomfortable to talk about, but that should never make us afraid to do so.
Be afraid when we don’t talk about them, be afraid that a small University radio station is afraid to air respectful, legitimate opinion and inquiry. That shit is really scary!
Thanks for this, Kim, it's shocking what's happening to independent media. In a similar story, Citizens' Forum ran for about 7 years on the Community TV Channel hosted by SHAW. Jack Etkin recently quit doing that show because, as he says, he was not being allowed to talk about the biggest story of our lifetime. I published an interview with Jack, if people are interested.
